Dexter is a TV show on Showtime about a boy who is blood crazed. TV shows like Dexter are encouraging violence among young people. Over-sexualization of women in various music genres and Hollywood movies is of negative impact on women. For example, Nicki Minaj songs mostly portray women who have big boobs and backsides, this has influenced many women to think that the standards of beauty are having big boobs and backsides, some have even gone to an extent of going through plastic surgery. Some of these procedures are life-threatening and their effects are long-lasting and irreversible. Hollywood on the other side view womens beauty standards as being thin is being beautiful. Women strive too hard to fit these standards and therefore eating disorders such as anorexia, bulimia and others have been on the rise. Pop culture, especially in the form of visual media, greatly affects our opinions and attitudes towards race and racial minority groups. Our assumption about a particular race is greatly influenced by the stereotypical and distorted imagery presented by visual media. The Reformation and Henry VIIIs Great Matter had turned Catholic against Protestant. This was a time of greed, as well as, controversy. As Henry VIII neared the end of his rule over England, many became thirsty for power and awaited any chance to attain it, no matter what, or who, was at stake. It was into thia hectic time that Jane Grey was born. A Protestant and grandniece to Henry VIII, Lady Jane was almost destined for tragedy. Having been so innocent and so eager to please, Jane was the perfect target for manipulation. Lady Jane Grey was an innocent victim of greed who was born into royalty, forced into marriage, forced onto the throne, and executed for the crime of others. Jane Grey was born into the royal Grey family in October of 1537. At the Bradgate Manor in Leicestershire Hills the Greys received their first daughter (Luke 25). Although Jane was the first child raised by her parents, chil dbirth was not uncommon to her mother. Frances Grey had already given birth to and lost two children, making her desperate to give her husband the son he desired (Luke 25). Although disappointed, Frances and Henry Grey decided to name their child Jane in honor of the Queen, which Henry hurried off to see (Hal 1). At this same time, Queen Jane Seymour, Henry VIIIs third wife, was giving birth to the kings son, Edward (Luke 26). By the age of three, Jane had begun her education. Being of nobility, it was normal to begin that young (Hal 2). When Jane was nine years old she went to live with Queen Catherine Parr. Queen Catherine was the sixth of Henry VIIIs wives. This experience was to teach Jane the ways of the Royal Court (Hal 3). Queen Catherine was overtaken with childbed fever after giving birth at Sudeley Castle in September of 1548. Jane was assigned chief mourner at her funeral (Luke 103). Although this may seem difficult for a young girl to handle, Jane was strong. When Jane was fourteen years of age she was forced into marriage against her will. King Edward VI was sick with tuberculosis and nearing the end of his life at only fifteen. Edward needed to be married and produce an heir in order to keep Protestant rule over England(Hal 3). Mary and Elizabeth, daughters of Henry VIII, were listed in Henrys will as the next two in line to the throne. Both women were Catholic(Hal 3). It was John Dudley, Duke of Northumberland, who found an interest in Jane, her being the fourth in line to the throne. Being chief minister to Edward, Dudley knew he may lose his power due to his fierce anti-Catholic ways. To Dudley, Jane was his only chance in retaining the power and status he had acquired(Hal 3). The Duke of Northumberland then conspired a plan, in which his first step was to befriend Henry and Frances Grey. By May he had convinced them to formalize their alliance through marriage. Jane was summoned to see her parents where she was informed that she was to marry Guildford Dudley, son of John Dudley(Hal 4). Jane Grey protested sharply because of her strong dislike for the Dudley family, but she was assured that life would not change and go on as usual. Jane and Gulidford were wed at the old Durham House on May 25, 1553(Luke 229). In the same ceremony Janes two younger sisters were married as well. He did this, basically, with verbal threats(Hal 4). Once everyone had agreed, a formal document was written up which officially removed the two daughters from the line of succession. Frances Grey was summoned to see the king where she declined the crown. This made Jane the successor. King Edward died on the gloomy Thursday morning of July sixth(Luke 252). Jane was not informed of the kings death until Sunday. She was at the Chelsea Manor House, where she had been sick for a few weeks. It was her sister-in-law who delivered the news and told her she had been summoned to the Syon House(Hal 5). Upon her entrance to the room, everyone began to kneel before her. Not knowing why, she began to blush. John Dudley then approached her and knelt as he announced that she was the new Queen of England(Hal 5). Jane was reluctant, repeating over and over that she w as not pleased. She insisted that she did not want to take the throne. Northumberland began telling Jane that it was her royal duty, saying this was of the late kings wanting. Her parents also insisted she take the position. Finally, Jane accepted and asked everyone to pray, if to succeed to the throne was indeed my duty and my right, that He would aid me to govern the realm to his glory(qtd. in Luke 268). With that said, Lady Jane Grey was officially declared Queen of England. After nine days of being queen and a short time of imprisonment, Jane was beheaded for the crimes of others. Large crowds gathered on the tenth of July at the Tower of London. There was very much excitement due to the new queens arrival. On this same day, Mary received a letter from council informing her that she had been named illegitimate(Hal 6). Having been informed that somebody was coming to take her into custody, Mary fled to Framlingham Castle in Norfolk. On the eleventh, the Lord High Treasurer brought the crown to Jane to see how it fit. Jane refused, saying she had no desire to see any royal jewels(Hal 6). It was at this time that Jane realized Dudleys plan. Jane discovered that John Dudley had only wanted for his son to be crowned king. This would give him supreme power. College is a place where you can explore a range of academic interests and get the opportunity to get some hands on experience to figure out which career path to take. Some students take on jobs and internships during the school year, but most try to dedicate their summers to a 2-3 month experience to boost their resumes. With summer approaching, if you’re still looking, here are some tips for college students who are looking for and applying for internships: 1. Update your profiles on job sites! If you don’t already, you should create your LinkedIn, Angelist and WayUp profiles. Even if you don’t yet have experience, it’s helpful for you to have your LinkedIn and Angelist profile ready with your education background and career interests. You’re able to showcase the courses you’ve taken in college that is related to what you would like to do in your career. Additionally, you’ll also be able to indicate you’re actively looking for an internship, so companies looking for interns can match up with you! 2. Be on the hunt for new job postings. Don’t rely on the job sites to do all the work for you. While it’s helpful to get recommended job matches, you need to take responsibility for your own internship hunt. Filter by the type of internship you want or in the field you want it in. Create a spreadsheet with all the jobs you’re interested in applying to, so you can keep track and follow up with the appropriate contact. Ethical Egoism Ethical egoism states that a person should act so as to create the greatest good for themselves. A leader with this orientation would take a job that he selfishly enjoys. Self-interest is an ethical stance closely related to transactional leadership theory. The leader with transactional leadership are more aware of the goals and objectives of the organization (Singh, 2012). So that in some ways, such theories are able to implement strategies more effectively. But this theory do not promoting the ethics due to the fact that the employees only focus on the end and the goals. My Future Plans and Expectation Essay

As a child, I found my self-looking up to many people and admiring those that had accomplished so many great things in their lives. I grew up in a household of eight people; I am the fifth child of six. I never thought about my future plans and expectation growing up. Major Theories of Human Development

1. Epigenetic theory (Erikson) Erikson's epigenetic theory depicts personality development as a passage through eight sequential stages of ego development from infancy through old age. According to Erikson, the developing individual must master and resolve, to some extent, a core conflict or crisis during each stage by integrating personal needs and skills with the social and cultural demands and expectations of the environment. Passage to each developmental stage is dependent on the resolution of the core conflict of ht preceding stage. No core conflict is completely mastered, however (Mandleco 2004). 2. Psychoanalytic theory (Freud) According to Freud, human behavior is motivated by psychodynamic forces within an individual's unconscious mind. Driven to act by these internal forces, individuals repeatedly interact with their external environment. An individual's personality and psychosexual identity are developed through the accumulation of these interacational experiences. Personality consists of three components: id, ego and superego. The id is inborn, unconscious and driven by biologic instincts. The ego is a conscious and rational faculty. The superego is the internalization of the moral values learnt from parents and elders (Madleco 2004). 3) Behaviorist theory (Watson) Behaviorism contends that human behavior can be explained as just a relationship between a stimulus and a response, and learned behavior is just a conditioned response.  Everything from speech to emotional responses are simply patterns of stimulus and response. Watson denied completely the existence of the mind or consciousness. Emotions are regarded simply as conditioned bodily responses to outside events. Thinking is explained simply as talking quietly. Watson believed that human behavior should be studied in a manner that allows the researcher to predict and control those behaviors (Klein 1989). 4) Classical conditioning (Thorndike, Skinner) Building upon the work of Thorndike, Skinner distinguished two types of behavior. Respondent behavior is based on reflexes and does not require learning. For example, if one touches a hot surface, one will quickly remove one's hand. Operant behavior, however, is learnt, and is performed spontaneously rather than as an automatic response to a situation. According to Skinner most human behavior is operant. Whereas classical conditioning depends on developing associations between events, operant conditioning involves learning from consequences of our behavior (Klein 1989). 5) Social learning theory (Bandura) In social learning theory, primary focus is given to learning experiences that occur through reciprocal social interactions. Environmental or situational determinants are important, but interactions are thought to be the conduit for internalization of social and nonsocial cues for behavior. Bandura and colleagues investigated the effects of modeling and imitation on the behavior of young children. They postulated that modeling and imitation are the primary interaction processes through which behavioral repertoires are acquired. Social learning theory emphasizes the socializing influence of the family (Lerner 1996). 6)   Cognitive theory (Piaget) According to Piaget's cognitive theory, children's development is marked by periods when they are particularly sensitive and responsive to outside influences. However, children are not blank slates on which teachers compose whatever they desire. Children, who have inherent dispositions and tendencies and are subject to their external environments, develop and grow intellectually in an invariable sequence from birth through adolescence and adulthood. To teach effectively, teachers should be aware of the materials and approaches most appropriate for a child's readiness to learn (Sigelman & Rider 2005). 7. Humanism (Maslow) The humanistic theory centers its attention on the experiencing person, emphasizes on qualities such as choice, creativity, valuation, and self-realization, with an ultimate concern for valuing of dignity and worth of a man, and an interest in the development of the potential inherent in every person. Maslow has referred to his psychology as holistic, dynamic psychology, and most of all it is known as self-actualization psychology, which expresses that people possess potentiality which could become actualities through the process of wholesome growth (Coon 2004). 8. Stages of moral development (Kohlberg) Kohlberg postulated that human beings tend to progress through six stages of moral development. People tend to make decisions and judgments about right and wrong for different reasons, depending on the stage of development they have achieved. Kohlberg's six stages of moral development are: 1) Right is obedience to power and avoidance of punishment.   2)Right is taking responsibility for oneself 3) Right is being good in the sense of having good motives 4) Right is maintaining the rules of a society 5) Right is based on recognized individual rights within a society 6) Right is an assumed obligation to principles applying to all humankind: justice, equality, and respect to human life (Lerner 1996).
